MY BIG SISTER IS ENGAGED... AND SHE OWES ME A BIG THANK YOU!
(haha, not really)
Here is the story on how I helped my sister find the love of her life.
A few years ago, when home from college, I got together with my high school bestie, Hannah. We met up at a Mexican restaurant to catch up and finally introduce me to her boyfriend. They had some other friends tagging along as well. This was just after the 4th of July which I had spent with my big sister, Kaitlynn. We did not get along growing up, but something changed after a few years of college and I was ecstatic when she invited me to hangout with her and her friends for the holiday. As always I brought my camera with me to the day at the lake and snapped a million pictures of her and the festivities. While catching up with Hannah, we got onto the topic of her boyfriend’s friend being single. I jokingly told him how my sister is singl. Proud of my photos from the 4th of July, I whipped them out on my iPhone and this man couldn’t believe his eyes. “That’s your sister?!” I remember him saying. I said “yeah, and she’s a dental surgeon assistant too ;)” I told him I was planning on going out with my sister that evening in Minneapolis and they were all welcome to join. At this point the whole table is in on it and planning on joining to see how this plays out. Al was very excited but the only thing he could think of was “I need to go home and brush my teeth.” because of Kaitlynn’s job.
Of course I told my sister in advance that I was setting her up with someone, “a friend of Hannah’s.” I remember asking if she likes beards. She does. That evening at Bar Louie (that no longer exists) we were all hanging out waiting for my sister to show up with her friends. Once she arrived, all nervous, we introduced them. They didn’t immediately hit it off like planned. They would chat for a while, smiling and laughing, but then would go off into separate groups. I had to know what was going on and if she liked him.
I joined her in her group and asked how things were going. She was a little drunk at this point, so it didn’t stop her from being very truthful. “I can just tell he isn’t that into me..” she said. Basically she thought he was out of her league and didn’t want to talk to her. Discouraged, I asked Hannah what Al had to say on his side. I was very surprised when he felt the exact same way as her! He thought she was out of his league and was too nervous to talk to her. With everyone on the same page besides the two of them, we got them to talk more and more and by the end of the night they had swapped numbers.
I later find out that they texted all night long and he even went all the way to Wisconsin to hangout with her the next day. They are undoubtedly a perfect match and I was so excited to find out he proposed and is going to be a part of the family! Of course I had to take their engagement photos, too!
My favorite preset pack was inspired by this moody + golden shoot!
